VALENTINES MAY NOT BE “ALL THAT” FOR BEES
If you are a male bee, getting to mate is a once-in-a-lifetime deal. As such, you must give it your all. Literally. A young queen bee will mate for just a short time before establishing a new colony and spending the rest of her life popping out babies. That said, males have a tiny change of mating and competition is fierce. Once a male catches the female and mates, he will explode (literally) leaving part of his body as a chastity belt of sorts.
